Over eight weeks, MCC’s Biotechnology Career Builder prepares you with marketable skills to start work in an entry level-role.

This program runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Fridays on MCC’s Lowell Campus.

MCC’s eight-week Biotechnology Career Builder program can help you reach your career goals.

As part of the program, you will:

• Receive a $1,000 stipend upon completion
• Practice hands-on in MCC’s new state-of-the-art biotech lab
• Get help with resume writing, interview prep, and the job search

Entry-level roles may include:

• Autoclave
• Washer
• Material Handler
• Media or Solutions Preparation
• Product Manufacturing
• Package
• Shipping
• Facilities

Eligibility Requirements

• 18+
• Masachusetts resident
• Unemployed or underemployed
• High school diploma or GED/HiSET credential
• Seeking a career in the biotech industry

Classroom learning includes an introduction to:

• The Biotechnology Industry – standard job positions and typical work environments
• Raw Materials – chemical, cellular biologics and microorganisms
• Equipment – use of standard lab equipment and storage options
• Topics – quality control and good manufacturing practices
• Safety Practices – identifying lab hazards
• Lab Work – preparing solutions, protein assays, cell culture techniques, instrumentation operation and problem-solving, environmental monitoring
• Professional Development – resume building, job interviewing, and employment opportunities
