MCC named Dr. Matthew Olson our Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs in summer 2025.
At MCC, the purpose of the Office of the Provost is to guide the academic side of the College, including faculty, curriculum and research.
MCC’s provost is responsible for several essential areas of MCC:

Provost Olson brings more than 33 years of experience at MCC, where he has held a variety of administrative, leadership, and teaching roles. He began his career at Middlesex as a part-time psychology instructor and taught continuously for over two decades in a variety of instructional modalities. Most recently, he served as Associate Provost for Academic Affairs and Strategic Initiatives.
Provost Olson has contributed extensively to College strategic planning, curriculum development, accreditation, and student success initiatives through his service on a wide range of committees and projects.
Known for his collaborative leadership style and deep institutional knowledge, Provost Olson brings a broad perspective to the role of Interim Provost and a strong commitment to supporting our students, faculty and staff.
