Middlesex Community College’s professional development opportunities help students of all ages jumpstart or advance in their careers. Run by the college’s Community Education and Training (CET) division, the variety of courses and certificates provide the knowledge and skills employees need to succeed in today’s workforce.

“MCC’s Community Education and Training division designs courses and certificates that help students gain marketable skills to get them hired in in-demand roles across Massachusetts,” said Audrey Nahabedian, MCC’s Dean of Workforce Development and Innovation. “Many programs feature hands-on and interactive learning opportunities taught by professionals who are experts in their field. Whether they’re looking for a new job or expanding their skillset, this ensures our students are well-prepared to be successful.”

Fall programs focus on subjects in information technology (IT), computer applications, business, management, communications, and personal enrichment. Students looking to update their IT and computer application skills can engage in a suite of classes to be prepared to start entry level jobs in these fields. IT classes this Fall include Google IT Support Professional Certificate/Comp TIA A+ Prep and Google Cybersecurity Certificate/Comp TIA Security + Prep, cloud associate, business computer applications, Microsoft Excel.

For students looking to grow into a management role, Middlesex courses highlight knowledge of key concepts that are adaptable for students to work in management in a wide range of industries. MCC’s Fall 2025 offerings include the award-winning SHRM Essentials of Human Resources class, as well as a management certificate with courses on workplace communication, understanding motivation, speaking with confidence, performance management, and managing conflict.

MCC’s Nonprofit Management courses prepare students with key concepts and critical management components for all nonprofit organizations. Classes focus on navigating the early stages of new nonprofits and fundraising strategies. In Generative AI, students discover how AI tools can enhance their professional and personal work.

In the Digital Media Marketing certificate, students learn about different media outlets for digital marketing and campaigns. Topics include the fundamentals of marketing, as well as how to optimize marketing emails, use search engine and website optimization, track digital media, and advertise for mobile and online platforms.

Over three days, participants will prepare for the FAA Remote Pilot Exam, learning requirements for drone operations, regulations and safety practices. The 21-hour course covers all the required knowledge content areas of the FAA’s Remote Pilot Test. Skills include regulations, the National Airspace System, weather, aircraft loading and performance, and flight operations.

This Fall, students can also take a variety of classes to learn new hobbies and skills. Options include introductions to Expressive Watercolor, Cartoon and Caricature Drawing, and Backyard Beekeeping. MCC will also offer a Digital Photography Certificate and Mystical Mindset Wellness Retreat.
