Middlesex Community College will host the Lowell Spotlight Open House: Arts and Communication Programs for prospective students and their families to learn more about the college’s offerings. The event will take place at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15 at MCC’s Richard and Nancy Donahue and Family Academic Arts Center.
“MCC is proud to offer a wide variety of arts and communications programs to help students get started in their fields, including by offering a premiere performance and events space on-campus,” said Matt Hurwitz, MCC’s Dean of Liberal Arts. “Our Academic Arts Center in Lowell is a prime example of how the college supports and enhances our programs. Attending the Spotlight Open House: Arts and Communication will give you a firsthand look at how our students are able to practice their talents and skills, both in the classroom and on the stage.”
During the in-person event, prospective students and their families can meet with faculty and students from across MCC’s arts and communication programs and student service areas. Program offerings include communication, fine and performing arts music, fine and performing arts theater, performing arts music, performing arts theater, studio arts, visual arts, visual design, and technical theater.
The open house will cover experiences, such as academic and career counseling, dual enrollment, financial aid and free college, tutoring, student access and support services, the Commonwealth Honors program and more. There will also be an opportunity to watch a student performance, explore the Academic Arts Center, and apply to the college.
Renovated in 2018, MCC’s Academic Ars Center houses the college’s performing arts programs, including theater, dance and music. The building houses a variety of campus events throughout the year, such as theater productions, “A World of Music” concert series performances, art and design showcases, the Visiting Writers Speaker Series, Owl Theatre Film Screenings, and more.
Middlesex will host an additional open house in Bedford on Wednesday, November 5. Prospective students and their families can learn more about all MCC’s resources and offerings, while touring the Bedford campus.
“Attending an open house is one of the best ways to learn about MCC and all that we offer,” said Jennifer Migliozzi, MCC’s Assistant Dean of Admissions. “While our Fall Open House in Lowell will highlight our arts and communications programs, the Fall Open House in Bedford will provide an overview of all our programs, resources and support services in our over 80 programs, including business, education, health, legal studies and public services, liberal arts, social science and STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics).”
