MCC's Office of Community Education offers aftershool and school and vacation programs in addition to our summer programs. Classes are designed to engage your young learner and start their journey to academic success.

Your children will discover hobbies and interests to:

Education Options for Kids and Teens

Our youth programming offers courses to help your child learn something new, improve classroom skills, and have fun!

This review course is intended for students in grades 7-12 that would like to build confidence and strengthen their algebra skills. We will review concepts, solve problems, and answer questions. Topics covered: simplifying expressions, definition of like terms, combining like terms, linear and polynomial, solving linear equations, graphing linear equations, equations of lines, solving and graphing linear inequalities. Students participating are required to have a solid foundation in arithmetic, including fractions and decimal operations. (10 Hours) $129

This review course is intended for students entering eighth - 12th grade that would like to strengthen their algebra skills. Content includes the following topics: Systems of equations, Quadratics, Graphing, Factoring, Solving (with and without quadratic Equation), Absolute Value, Radicals. Students participating are required to have a solid foundation in Algebra 1. (10 hours) $129

Does the thought of public speaking fill you with dread? Gain confidence early on, before you need to present to a crowd! Focus on ways to use your voice and build confidence to set a solid foundation for success. You will practice speaking in a supportive environment while learning and using both verbal and non-verbal tools to increase self-esteem to feel comfortable in any setting. Class is geared for ages 12 and older. (4.5 hours) $68

Get inspired! Students will learn different techniques for decorating cupcakes. Each student will decorate and take home nine cupcakes and a recipe card for them to recreate their masterpieces at home! Materials fee of $25 per student is due to instructor at class. (3 hours) $63

This hands-on entrepreneurship program offered by DesignMy, is a hands-on entrepreneurship program that transforms middle school students into budding entrepreneurs. Over 20 engaging hours, students will: Ideate - brainstorm innovative ideas, learn how to think creatively and develop products that resonate with potential customers;

Create - Using tools like Canva, students design and customize their own unique products from our catalog. Sell - With their products ready, students dive into marketing strategies to reach their customers. develop plans to share their creations. Reflect - After launching their products, students analyze how things are going.  Grow - Students delve into financial concepts. By creating real products, selling to real people, and learning throughout the process, students will experience entrepreneurship firsthand, gaining valuable insights into business and developing skills that will benefit them in many areas of life. (20 hours) $250

Join us online for weekly Dungeons & Dragons! In addition to playing the game, this program has an educational element to it. Create your own fantasy characters/setting while learning about worldbuilding, interactive writing, and different types of government.  (12 Hours) $150

College for Teens

Our College for Teens programming offers courses to help your child with early career development and introduce future academic and professional options. These programs can earn your teen college credit that can be used at Middlesex Community College.

Explore your personality, skills, values and life by learning concepts to:

  • Introduce business
  • Various types of organizations that exist along with financial accounting
  • Understand simplified financial statements

This course includes career mapping, writing and research to formulate a real-world perspective on current jobs in the fields of business and accounting, and the requirements needed to achieve them.

The class will conclude with an assessment. Upon successful completion, students can earn one 1 credit for IDS 131 - Business Career Exploration at MCC. This articulated credit is not always transferable to other institutions but can ALWAYS be applied to MCC degrees and certificates.

Engineering/Computer Aided Design (CAD) careers offer tremendous versatility and opportunities as the work makes an impact on our everyday world and significantly improves our lives.

You will explore skills, values and life goals while being introduced to tools to formulate a real-world perspective on current jobs in Engineering and CAD and the requirements needed to achieve them!

These include:

  • Hands-on printed circuit board layout
  • 3D printers
  • Other engineering tools through software programs and lecture
  • Career mapping
  • SOLIDWORKS
  • Printed circuit board layout

Class will conclude with an assessment. Upon successful completion, you can earn one credit for IDS 135 – STEM Career Exploration at MCC. This articulated credit is not always transferable to other institutions, but can ALWAYS be applied to MCC degrees and certificates.

Are you interested in learning about careers within Public Service at the local, state or federal level? Explore your work interests, personality, skills, values and life goals to identify possible public service careers that match with your strengths. We will use career mapping and organization research to formulate a real-world perspective on current jobs and the requirements needed to achieve them.

A variety of different public service careers will be explored within the following fields:

  • Law enforcement agencies
  • Court system
  • Corrections
  • Emergency response services
  • Victim services

The class includes walking field trips and tours of the Lowell Police Department and Lowell Justice Center.

Upon successful completion, you can earn one credit for IDS 133 – Public Service Career Exploration at MCC. This articulated credit is not always transferable to other institutions, but can ALWAYS be applied to MCC degrees and certificates.
