Frequently Asked Questions
ACE stands for Academic Center for Enrichment. We provide resources to help students
succeed in their classes. ACE also stands for Acing your classes!
ACE tutors are students at Middlesex. They have done well in the classes and subjects that they tutor and have been recommended by faculty for their subject knowledge, their interest in helping others and their ability to impart information. They have also all been trained in tutoring best practices. If you are interested in becoming an ACE tutor, please visit ACE is Hiring.
All students can come to the ACE center for tutoring, independent work, or to engage with our study groups.
Research shows that students who use ACE for tutoring get higher grades, more often pass their classes, and are more likely to stay in college than students who don’t.
Tutors are available in-person at the ACE Tutoring centers in Lowell LC406B and Bedford LIB-3 (STEM) and LIB-7 (Writing). Check ACE home page for hours.
Tutors are available for online zoom appointments during the day, evening, and weekend hours.
ACE always offers tutoring for Science (A&P, Biology, Chemistry, Physics), Technology (including Computer Science, IT, and Graphic Design), Engineering, Mathematics, Business, Accounting, Reading and Writing (for any course).
We also have Honors-specific writing tutors, tutors for the TEAS test, tutors for
Health sciences (nursing, dental hygiene, radiologic science, etc.) and tutors to help you navigate online learning.
Other courses we tutor change by semester based on tutor availability. This semester
we offer tutoring for courses such as Psychology, Geography, and various foreign languages.
Email ACE.
All tutoring appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes.
Appointments are scheduled for 30 minutes. If you are a multilingual student and need more time, please visit the ACE Tutoring center (Lowell: LC-406B or Bedford: LIB-3 and LIB-7) to speak with an ACE Staff member about extending the time or making another appointment.
Students can make one appointment per subject per day. This means you can have an appointment for Physics and another for Biology and another for Writing on the same day, but not two Writing or two Biology appointments in one day.
We ask that you not book back-to-back appointments in the same discipline (e.g. Science, Math, Writing).
The more prepared you are, the better! Bring assignment directions, class notes, course material or anything else that will help the tutor assist you during the session.
